Set how many spots a class has
Each class has its own Spots. A new class takes the usual number from its class type or its room, and you can change it. When the spots are taken, members see Full (or join the waitlist), and staff can still add someone above the limit.
Where the number comes from
Every class has its own Spots. When you create a class, elastudio fills it in for you:
- the class type’s Usual number of spots (in Settings, Class types), when you pick the type;
- the room’s Usual spots (in Settings, Locations and rooms), when you pick a room on a new class.
The last one you pick sets the number, and you can always type another. Changing a class type’s or a room’s usual number only affects classes you create afterwards.
Change the spots of a class
- Open Schedule, tap the class and select Edit class.
- Change Spots. For a series, choose whether it is this class only, this and the following ones or the whole series.
- Save.
Spots cannot go below the number of people already booked; the editor says “(n) people are booked, so spots cannot go below (n).” Move or cancel bookings first. Members do not need an e-mail about a change of spots: their booking stays as it is.
If the waitlist is on and you add spots, the first people waiting are booked automatically.
What members see
The schedule and the class page show how many spots are left, for example “3 spots left”. Bookings waiting for payment hold their spot until they are paid or expire.
When every spot is taken:
- with the waitlist on (Starter and up), the class reads Full: join the waitlist. See How the waitlist works;
- otherwise it reads Full and cannot be booked.
Adding someone to a full class
Staff can still add a member from the class list. elastudio asks first (The class is full) and, with Add anyway, gives that person a spot above the limit. The number of spots does not change. See Book a member into a class or add a walk-in.
Note: Event places are set on the event and its ticket types, not here. See Event ticket types.
