Connect Brevo for e-mail marketing
Connect your Brevo account and elastudio keeps a Brevo list up to date with the members who agreed to receive news. You write and send the campaigns in Brevo.
What it does
Brevo is an e-mail marketing tool: newsletters, campaigns and automations. Once it is connected, elastudio keeps one Brevo list up to date for you:
- Members who agreed to receive news by e-mail go into the list, with their name and a few details.
- Members who change their mind come out of the list, and Brevo keeps their address on its do-not-email list.
- When a member changes e-mail address in elastudio, the same Brevo contact gets the new address.
- When someone unsubscribes from one of your Brevo e-mails, their consent is turned off in elastudio too.
elastudio never sends campaigns. You write and send them in Brevo.
E-mail marketing is part of the Starter plan and up. The studio owner or an admin connects it, in Settings > E-mail marketing.
Before you start
- A Brevo account. Brevo has a free plan. Sign up at brevo.com.
- The updated agreements. The studio owner accepts elastudio’s current agreements in Settings > Privacy and legal. They name Brevo as a service your members’ details go to. Connecting is refused until they are accepted.
- Your members’ privacy notice. Members must be told before their details go to Brevo. elastudio’s notice template 1.2 has the words. Update and publish your notice first.
Create a Brevo API key
An API key is the password that lets elastudio talk to your Brevo account.
- In Brevo, open the menu under your name and choose Settings, then SMTP & API, then API Keys & MCP.
- Choose Generate a new API key and enter the code Brevo sends you.
- Name it elastudio and choose No expiration.
- Copy the key. It starts with
xkeysib-. Brevo shows it only once.
Then, in Brevo’s Security > Authorized IPs, switch off Block unknown IP addresses. elastudio’s servers do not have a fixed address, so Brevo would refuse them.
Brevo’s own guide, in English: Create and manage your API keys.
Connect in elastudio
- Open Settings > E-mail marketing.
- Paste the API key, tick that your members’ privacy notice names Brevo, and choose Connect Brevo.
- Pick a list you already have, or create a new one.
Members who agreed to news start going to Brevo within a few minutes. The page shows how many are in the list, when elastudio last sent changes, and whether unsubscribes come back from Brevo.
What elastudio sends for each member
E-mail, first and last name, language, member since, first and last visit, whether they have an active pass or membership and when it ends, and resident or visitor. In Brevo the extra fields start with ELASTUDIO_, so you can use them in segments and automations.
Members under 18 are never sent, whatever they chose.
Keep your campaigns out of spam
Before you send real campaigns, authenticate your e-mail domain in Brevo. Without it, Gmail and other providers often put campaigns in spam. Brevo gives you two or three records to add where your domain is managed.
Brevo’s own guide, in English: Authenticate your domain with Brevo.
If something goes wrong
- Brevo refused the key: paste a new key. If the key is right, check that Block unknown IP addresses is off in Brevo.
- The list was deleted in Brevo: pick another list on the same page. Changes wait and go out once a list is picked.
- Brevo is not answering: elastudio keeps trying. Nothing is lost.
Disconnect
Choose Disconnect Brevo on the same page. elastudio stops updating the list and forgets the key. The contacts already in Brevo stay there, and from then on you remove them yourself when a member withdraws consent or asks to be deleted.
