Set up two-step verification
Add elastudio to an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password) with a QR code, confirm with a code, and save your 10 backup codes. Then your password always asks for a code from the app.
Two-step verification means that signing in with your password also asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. The code changes every 30 seconds, so someone who learns your password still cannot get in. It is for the studio’s team: owners, admins, front desk and teachers.
Before you start
- Install an authenticator app on your phone, for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.
- Sign in with a code, a link or Google. Setting up needs a sign-in from the last 10 minutes.
Set it up
- Open My profile and choose Sign-in and security.
- Under Two-step verification, select Set up authenticator app.
- In your app, add an account and scan the QR code. Can’t scan? Type the key shown under it instead (time based, 6 digits).
- Type the 6-digit code the app shows for elastudio and select Turn on.
- Save your backup codes. You see 10 codes, once. Select Copy codes or Download, keep them somewhere safe away from your phone, tick I saved my backup codes somewhere safe and select Done.
You get an e-mail from elastudio saying two-step verification is on. Now create your password if you have not yet. See Sign in to the admin with a password.
Backup codes
- Each backup code signs you in once, instead of the app’s code. You get an e-mail each time one is used, with how many are left.
- Running low? Select New backup codes and type the code your app shows now. The old codes stop working.
Turn it off
Select Turn off and type a code from the app or a backup code. Your password then no longer opens the admin. Nobody can turn it off for you, and it cannot be turned off without a valid code.
Good to know
- Five wrong codes in 15 minutes pause signing in with your password for 15 minutes, and we e-mail you. If that was not you, change your password.
- The secret key is stored encrypted and shown only during setup. elastudio staff cannot see your codes.
- Signing in with a code by e-mail or Google never asks for the app.
