How to run your studio on elastudio, from your first class to your monthly reports.

Business types and the Features page

Your business type (yoga, pilates, surf or kitesurf school, massage, spa, retreats or something else) sets the words elastudio uses. Settings > Tools > Features lists every module with an on/off switch: what is off is hidden, never deleted. Owner and admins only.

elastudio works for any business that sells classes or sessions. Your studio has one business type, and Settings, Tools, Features is where you choose it and switch the parts of elastudio you use on or off.

Your business type

There are eight: Yoga studio, Pilates studio, Surf school, Kitesurf school, Massage studio, Spa, Retreats and Something else. You pick one on the first screen of sign-up, What do you run?, and can change it later:

  1. Open Settings (on a phone, Settings is under More) and choose Features, under Tools.
  2. Under Type of business, choose an option in What do you run?. It saves at once.

The type sets the words the admin, your booking pages, the booking widget and the default e-mail texts use. For example:

  • Yoga, pilates and something else: class, class types, teacher, member.
  • Surf and kitesurf schools: lesson, lesson types, instructor, student, school.
  • Massage studio: massage, massage types, therapist, client, appointments.
  • Spa: treatment, treatment types, therapist, client.
  • Retreats: retreat, facilitator, guest, and tickets become registrations.

Changing the type only changes the words. It never switches a module on or off. E-mail texts you wrote yourself are never rewritten.

The modules

Under Modules you see every part of elastudio, in this order: Group classes, Private sessions, Passes and memberships, Events and workshops, Waiting lists, Room calendar, Promo codes, Gift cards, Gear rental, Online waiver, E-mail service integrations, Pay what you want, Payouts, Teacher pay, E-mail marketing, Fixed spots, Make-up classes, Outgoing webhooks, Pick a spot and Ask for help (AI assistant).

Each row shows one of these:

  • A switch, when your plan includes the module. Turn it on or off; a message confirms it, and the menu changes at once. Modules your type usually uses say Usual for your type of business.
  • A plan badge, such as Growth plan, with a See plans link, when the module comes with a bigger plan. You can switch it on as soon as your plan includes it.
  • Add-on with its monthly price, for a module sold as an add-on (E-mail marketing, and Outgoing webhooks below Pro). The row then says where your studio stands:
    • Add-on active, with its switch.
    • Not in any plan: add it to your plan when you want it. with Add in Plan and usage.
    • Add-on from the Starter plan (on Free) or from the Growth plan (webhooks on Starter), with See plans.
    • Otherwise the reason it cannot be added yet, for example on a plan elastudio set for you: choose a paid plan first.
  • Coming soon, for a module that is not ready yet. Today that is Gift cards and Ask for help (AI assistant).

Group classes, passes and memberships, and events are on every plan. Private sessions, waiting lists, the room calendar, promo codes, the online waiver, e-mail service integrations (Brevo), pay what you want, fixed spots and make-up classes start on Starter. Gear rental, payouts, teacher pay, pick a spot and Ask for help start on Growth. E-mail marketing, the automatic e-mails, is an add-on from Starter that no plan includes. Outgoing webhooks are in Pro, or in Growth with the webhooks add-on. Switching a module off is allowed on any plan.

A module marked Set by elastudio cannot be switched here; write to support to change it.

What “off” means

A module that is off is hidden from the admin menu, your booking pages, the booking widget on your website and the team app, and members cannot use it. Nothing is deleted: switch it back on and everything is still there. In the admin, a saved link to one of its pages shows This is switched off with Open Features; on your booking pages it shows as not available.

With Group classes off, your booking page’s home shows private sessions (or events). The class waitlist follows Waiting lists together with your booking rule Waiting list when a class is full: both must be on.

Only the owner and admins see the Features page and change the type or the switches. Every change is kept in the activity log.

Where a new studio starts

At sign-up, your business type switches on its usual set:

  • Yoga studio and Something else: everything except gear rental, the online waiver, fixed spots, make-up classes and pick a spot.
  • Pilates studio: the same as yoga, plus fixed spots, make-up classes and pick a spot.
  • Surf school and Kitesurf school: like yoga, but with gear rental and the online waiver on and the room calendar off.
  • Massage studio: private sessions, passes and memberships, promo codes, the online waiver, e-mail service integrations, E-mail marketing, payouts, teacher pay and outgoing webhooks. Group classes, events, waiting lists, the room calendar and pay what you want start off.
  • Spa: the same as a massage studio, plus the room calendar.
  • Retreats: events, waiting lists, promo codes, the online waiver, e-mail service integrations, E-mail marketing, payouts, teacher pay and outgoing webhooks. Group classes, private sessions, passes and memberships, the room calendar and pay what you want start off.

Ask for help starts off for every type. A module still needs your plan to work, even when it is switched on.

Note: Studios that were already on elastudio before 27 October 2026 keep every module they used, and the newer ones (pay what you want, payouts, teacher pay, e-mail marketing, outgoing webhooks, fixed spots, make-up classes, pick a spot, gear rental and the online waiver) stay off until the owner or an admin turns them on in Settings, Tools, Features. Your members see nothing of a new module until then.
