How a member changes their e-mail
Members change the e-mail they sign in with in their account, under Profile. They prove the current address, then confirm the new one. Staff can only ask them to do it.
Who can change it
Only the member. The e-mail is how they sign in, at your studio and at any other studio on elastudio where they use the same address, so staff never set or choose it.
How the member changes it
- In their account, they open Profile and find Sign-in e-mail.
- They select Change e-mail, type the New e-mail and select Send confirmation.
- If they did not sign in in the last 10 minutes, a code first goes to their current e-mail. They type it in Code sent to your current e-mail and send again.
- The new address gets a 6-digit code and a link. They type the code in Code from the e-mail and select Confirm new e-mail, or open the link on a device where they are signed in.
Nothing changes until they confirm. The link and code work once, for 60 minutes. If the new address already has an account, nothing is sent and they are told to sign in with it instead.
After the change
- The new e-mail applies everywhere the member signs in with that account.
- The old address gets the E-mail address changed message with an undo link that works for 7 days.
- The e-mail cannot be changed again for 7 days.
If the member did not make the change
Opening the undo link from the old address puts the old e-mail back, whatever the address is by then. It also signs the account out on every device, removes any password and Google sign-in linked to it, and locks changes for another 7 days. The member then signs in again with the old e-mail.
What staff can do
On the member’s profile, owners, admins and front desk can choose Ask to update e-mail, then Send the request. elastudio sends one message to the member’s current address asking them to change it in their account. The message only points them to their account. It has no code, and nothing on the profile changes. A profile without an e-mail cannot get the request.
