How to run your studio on elastudio, from your first class to your monthly reports.

Issue NFS-e (Brazil's service invoice)

Studios in Brazil selling in R$ can issue the NFS-e, the city's electronic service invoice, for every paid sale. Open Settings, NFS-e, connect the test provider or your own Focus NFe account, fill in the fiscal settings and switch Issue NFS-e on. Included in the Pro plan.

What the NFS-e is

The NFS-e (nota fiscal de serviço eletrônica) is the electronic invoice a Brazilian business issues for a service. Classes, passes and memberships are services, so a studio issues an NFS-e, not an NF-e (the NF-e is for goods).

elastudio can issue one note for every paid sale, in your studio’s name. The note is signed and sent to the city by an NFS-e provider, a company that does this for you.

  • NFS-e is only for studios in Brazil selling in R$.
  • It is included in the Pro plan. A studio that set it up and later moves to a smaller plan keeps issuing notes as before.
  • Since 1 January 2026 every city must take part in the national NFS-e system, and small companies on the Simples Nacional must use the national system from 1 November 2026. elastudio issues through the national standard.

Note: Every studio’s tax situation is different. Check your settings with your accountant before you issue real notes.

Open Settings, NFS-e

Open Settings and, under Money, select NFS-e. The owner and admins can open it. The page has four tabs:

Step 1: choose a provider (Connection)

You have two choices.

elastudio’s test provider. Select Use the test provider. It takes one click and issues test notes marked “no fiscal value”. Nothing is ever sent to a city. Use it to try the whole flow: how notes look, how a refund cancels them. To see what a refusal looks like, set the inscrição municipal to 000000 in Fiscal settings: the test city then refuses your notes.

Your own Focus NFe account. Focus NFe is a Brazilian NFS-e provider. It is one of several in Brazil, and the one elastudio connects to today.

  1. Create your account at Focus NFe and register your studio’s company there.
  2. Upload your studio’s A1 digital certificate at Focus, not in elastudio, and check that NFS-e Nacional is switched on.
  3. In the Focus panel, open your company and copy the API token for the environment you want: Test (homologação, no fiscal value) or Production (real notes).
  4. In elastudio, under Connection, choose Focus NFe, pick the same environment, paste the token and select Connect Focus NFe.

elastudio checks the token first, keeps it encrypted and shows only its last four characters afterwards. You pay Focus directly for its service: when we checked on 25 October 2026, its Solo plan was R$94.90 a month for 100 notes.

Step 2: who issues the notes

Notes go out in the name of your studio’s business: the legal name, CNPJ and address you set in Settings, Privacy and legal. Settings, NFS-e shows them; to change them, select Change in Privacy and legal.

Step 3: fiscal settings

Your accountant can confirm these. The defaults fit a yoga or pilates studio.

  • Tax regime: MEI, Simples Nacional (ME or EPP), Lucro Presumido or Lucro Real.
  • Inscrição municipal (optional): your studio’s registration number at the city. An MEI often has none.
  • Find your city: type the name and pick it. The 7-digit IBGE code is filled in for you.
  • Service item (LC 116/2003): 06.04 by default, which covers gymnastics, dance and other physical activities, yoga and pilates included.
  • National taxation code (cTribNac): 060401 by default.
  • City service code (optional): only if your city asks for its own code.
  • CNAE (optional): 7 digits, for example 9313100.
  • ISS rate in % (optional): the national system fills it in for cities that joined it. An MEI pays ISS in the monthly DAS, so leave it empty.
  • When to issue:
    • Each sale, as soon as it is paid: every sale gets a note once it is fully paid, at the desk or online, by card, Pix or cash, monthly renewals included.
    • Only when staff ask, from the sale: no note goes out on its own.
  • Every note needs the buyer’s CPF: some cities ask for it. With this on, a note for a buyer without a CPF waits until someone adds it.
  • Ask for the document at checkout: members type their CPF when they buy online. Off by default. See Buyers without a CPF.
  • The provider e-mails the note to the buyer: on by default.
  • A full refund cancels the note: on by default.
  • Text added to every note (optional): for example the approximate taxes line your accountant asks for.
  • Advanced: note numbering: the DPS series and the Next DPS number. Change them only to follow numbering you already use.

Select Save.

Step 4: switch it on

Turn Issue NFS-e on. If something is still missing, elastudio lists it under Before notes can go out, for example the CNPJ, the city or the tax regime. Fill it in and try again.

From then on, notes go out as you chose. Turning Issue NFS-e off stops new notes; notes already sent finish, and cancellations still work.

Sales that never get a note

  • Sales imported from another system.
  • Complimentary sales.
  • Sales with a total of zero.
