Make-up classes
A member who cancels one date of a fixed spot before your deadline gets a make-up class instead of the credit back: it books another class with a free seat, by default within 30 days. You set the rules in Settings, Booking rules.
Make-up classes go with fixed weekly spots. When a member cancels one of their fixed-spot classes in time, they keep the class instead of getting the credit back: they get a make-up class to book another class with a free seat. The screens use your business type’s words (a surf school sees “make-up lesson”, for example).
Switch it on
Make-up classes start on the Starter plan and need fixed spots on. The owner or an admin turns them on in Settings, Features, with Make-up classes. Studios that existed before 27 Oct 2026 have it switched off until they turn it on. New pilates studios start with it on.
Your rules
Open Settings, Booking rules, and find Fixed spots and make-up classes. The owner and admins change these rules.
- Make-up deadline is the free cancellation window: on by default, so the deadline is the class’s free cancellation window. Turn it off to set your own Make-up deadline (hours before the class).
- A make-up lasts (days after the missed class): 30 days by default, the last day included.
- Only in the same class type: off by default. On, a make-up books only a class of the same type as the one missed.
- Limit make-ups per member each month: off by default (no limit). On, set Make-ups per member each month, counted by the month of the missed class.
Select Save fixed spot rules. New make-ups follow the rules of that moment.
When a member gets one
A member gets a make-up when they cancel a fixed-spot date that was paid by a pass or membership, before the deadline, and under the monthly limit. The make-up takes the place of the credit back: the class stays used on the pass, or on the membership’s week.
- Before they confirm, the cancel dialog says “You’ll get a make-up class to book another class with a free seat by” the last day.
- They get one Make-up class given e-mail, which also confirms the cancellation.
- After the deadline, the usual rules apply: the cancellation is late and there is no make-up. Past the monthly limit, a cancellation in time gives the credit back instead.
Ordinary bookings, outside a fixed spot, cancel as before.
How a member uses one
Members see their make-ups in Account, tab Bookings, under Make-up classes, with “Book a class with a free seat by” the last day, and a Find a class button. To use one:
- They open a class with a free seat and start booking.
- The booking sheet offers Make-up class next to their passes. They choose it.
- They confirm. The booking says “Booked with a make-up class.”
A make-up books one seat, uses no pass and counts in no weekly or monthly limit. It never joins a waiting list, and it cannot book a free class or a class open only to selected passes.
Given back or lost
- Cancelling the make-up booking before the free cancellation window gives the make-up back. Later, it is used.
- If the studio cancels that class, the make-up comes back.
- The night after its last day, an unused make-up is lost.
Staff giving a make-up
When staff remove a member from a fixed-spot date paid by a pass or membership, What happens to the class offers Give a make-up class instead, whatever the deadline and the limit. It is there until the class starts. The member gets the Make-up class given e-mail. The owner, admins and front desk can do this.
Where staff see them
- On the class list, a booking made with one shows a Make-up badge.
- The member’s profile lists their make-ups under Fixed spots and make-ups, as Available, Used (with the class it booked) or Lost.
- Reports, under Fixed spots, Make-up classes: for classes missed in a period, make-ups given, used, lost and still available, in total and per member. It is for staff who see every report.
